About MIMA RockitPresented by the Rockit® Music Festival and supported by THE VENETIAN® Macao, MIMA Rockit, will be the first full scale international music and arts festival in the Pearl River Delta since the wildly popular original Rockit Festivals were held in Victoria Park Hong Kong from 2003-2006. Chris Cunningham - 5th AugustChris Cunningham is one of the most respected music video directors and visual artists having his works been showcased on the "Directors label set" in 2004 with the likes of Spike Jones, Anton Corbijn and Michel Gondry. Cunningham was headhunted by Stanley Kubrick after his work on the movie Judge Dredd to help create the robotic character from AI. He moved on to producing music videos for Madonna, Aphex Twin, and Bjork while his video installations have been presented at the Royal Academy of Arts. Lupe Fiasco - 5th AugustLupe Fiasco will need no introduction to the growing hip hop massive in Asia. His critically acclaimed "Lupe Fiasco's Food and Liqour" featured production from music heavyweights Jay-z, Kanye West, Neptunes and Mike Shinoda after he impressed the masses with his contribution to the song "Touch the Sky" by Kanye West in 2005. The album received several Grammy BET award nominations through out his standout career as a credible hip hop artist and is often considered on of the top 5 MC's in the world. UNKLE - 7th AugustExperimental hip-hop outfit UNKLE was one of the original artists releasing material through noted U.K. label Mo' Wax, which helped launch the instrumental mid-'90s downtempo breakbeat revival eventually termed trip-hop. ![]() Now after seven previous releases UNKLE's eighth album, and their fifth studio album, "Where Did the Night Fall", was released in May 2010. Their new work signals an evolving music style with more emphasis on indie rock and psychedelic genres but retaining their signature electronic roots. The Sleeves - 7th AugustBased in Hong Kong, but hailing from England and New Zealand, The Sleeves have been making a name for themselves in the local independent music scene for the past 18 months with their self-styled 'Arcade Rock' and energetic live shows. Their MIMA Rockit appearance will mark a return to the Cotai Expo following their support slot for Peaches in April 2010. Sushi Robot - 7th AugustSushi Robot are Simon Griffin and Claudio Canzonetta, producers of an energetic mix of Breakbeat, Drum & Bass, Electro. Sushi have played live shows in Taiwan, UK, China, Hong Kong. Sushi Robot popularizes Breakbeat/Drum'n'Bass as a form of musical expression, just as relevant for living-room contemplation as in the club scene. Helping the integration of all music genres into the world of Breakbeat and Drum & Bass. If you can feel it then your half way there. Killer Soap - 7th AugustKiller Soap has been active in the Hong Kong band scene for more than 6 years and they are known for their catchy, up-tempo and energetic music. In 2008, they represented China to compete in London for the Global Battle of the Bands. The MIMA Rockit gig will be their second time to perform outside of Hong Kong.
